چکیده

Photoinduced quantum molecular dynamics is numerically investigated using two different Schrödinger formulations based on adiabatic (“bare”) and Floquet (“dressed”) molecular state representations. Computer simulations for the two approaches are compared in terms of numerical accuracy and efficiency where special emphasis is laid on the limit of very short and intense laser pulses. The optical excitation of the HCl+ ion from the X2 to the A2 + state near resonance frequency is investigated as a model system. For a variety of pulse intensities and durations the final population transfer is reproduced accurately by a model based on seven Floquet states only. Elimination of the highly oscillatory terms from the resulting equations allows for the use of much longer time steps in the numerical integration. Even for extremely short pulses with durations down to a single optical cycle, dressed states are still found to be useful. Thus, the Floquet approach provides an efficient tool for the simulation of molecules interacting with short and intense pulses beyond the perturbative regime.  2004 Elsevier B.V. A theoretical model for molecules interacting with intense laser pulses: The Floquet–based quantum–classical Liouville equation

The Floquet–based quantum–classical Liouville equation (F–QCLE) is presented as a novel theoretical model for the interaction of molecules with intense laser pulses. This equation efficiently combines the following two approaches: First, a small but spectroscopically relevant part of the molecule is treated quantum–mechanically while the remaining degrees of freedom are modelled by means of cla...

The Extension of Wave Operator-floquet Formalism to Molecular Photodissociation Processes with Short Laser Pulses

Photodissociations induced by intense short laser pulses are investigated using a generalized Floquet formulation. This formulation replaces the continuous electric eld shape function by a discrete step function. An initial active space is deened by using the Bloch's wave operator theory and the corresponding target spaces, in which the dynamics is connned, are built for each new discrete value...

Step-by-step method in adiabatic Floquet theory for laser pulses

A new step-by-step technique of solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation for quantum systems driven by chirped laser pulses is developed. Our approach is based on application of the adiabatic theorem of quantum mechanics to instantaneous Floquet states in an extended Hilbert space and on approximation of the slowly varying pulse parameters by step functions. This approximation and repres...

Floquet-Markovian description of the parametrically driven, dissipative harmonic quantum oscillator

Using the parametrically driven harmonic oscillator as a working example, we study two different Markovian approaches to the quantum dynamics of a periodically driven system with dissipation. In the simpler approach, the driving enters the master equation for the reduced density operator only in the Hamiltonian term. An improved master equation is achieved by treating the entire driven system w...
